MgO doped Lithium Niobate Electro-Optical Q-switch is an excellent EO Q Switch and Pockels Cell. LiNbO3 crystal and MgO:LiNbO3 crystal are a low cost photoelectric material with good mechanical and physical properties as well as good E-O properties. It has been widely used as frequency double, optical parametric oscillators, quasi-phase-matched ( QPM ) devices and waveguide substrates as well as the most common material for Q-switches ( Pockels cell ) and phase modulators, LiNbO3 pockels cells are very suitable for applications in Er:YAG, Ho:YAG, Tm:YAG pulsed Solid State Laser system.
Compared with LiNbO3, MgO:LiNbO3 crystal has revealed higher damage threshold, and we offer Lithium Niobate and MgO:LiNbO3 crystal Pockels cells with AR coated (wavelength up to 3000nm) for Q-Switching and modulation. The linear electro-optic effect, also known as the Pockels cell effect, describes the variation of the refractive index of an optical medium under the influence of an external electrical field. When linearly polarized light propagates along the direction of the optical axis of the crystal, its state of polarization remains unchanged as long as no voltage is applied. When a voltage is applied, the light exits the MgO doped Lithium Niobate electro-opitcal crystal in a state of polarization which is in general elliptical.
