DKDP Q-switches is the most widely used in electro-optical applications due to its excellent EO properties. A kind of electro-optic material such as KD*P crystal can change the polarization state of light passing through it, then an applied voltage induces birefringence change in the DKDP crystal. When used in matching with polarizers, the DKDP Pockels Cell work as a kind of optical Q-switch device to generate laser pulses, as well as EO Modulator. KD*P is used for the wavelength range from UV up to around 1.1 µm.
