Zinc Selenide (ZnSe) windows has low IR absorption, and is transparent across a very wide 0.6-16 μm spectral range.

ZnSe crystal belongs to a kind of Optical Crystal, but Znic Selenide IR Windows are usually used as a kind of Optical Windows.

The optical windows is advantageous for thermal imaging, where temperatures of remote objects are ascertained via their blackbody radiation spectrum.
